I Want to Scream!!!

Can anyone recommend a good service for blogs that is user-friendly and has most bugs worked out of it? Has anyone tried bloglines? I’ve heard some positive stuff about it.
I’m going to have to switch my blog to a different service. Every time I want to upload pictures, goofy things happen and I end up spending too much time trying to fix things. This WordPress service is supposed to be meant for people who aren’t computer programmers, but gives that bit of flexibility to those who do know some html. My husband is a computer programmer, but I don’t want to have to go to him to “fix” something each time I want to post. There are so many bugs and quirks, that I’m fed up!
Pictures don’t align the way I want them to, spaces appear or disappear, views change. That’s it! Time to move on.
Grrrrr!!!!!!!

I’ve been using Blogger for over a year now. I almost never upload my pictures using Blogger. Instead, I use the flickr uploader and then use the HTML code in Blogger to link to the image in flickr. Blogger lets you assign a template to each blog entry. I’ve set it up so there’s a section of code available in every entry that displays the pictures the way I want. I make as many copies of the code as I need and then copy and paste the “Image Location” from flickr into the code.
It’s not super fast, but it’s faster than trying to upload each picture individually and then formatting each one.
Can you do something similar in wordpress? (I’ve never used wordpress, so I don’t know)

Thanks Michael,
I’m gonna see if I can do that with WordPress. Meanwhile, my husband came to my rescue, yet again.

I use WordPress, but by downloading the WordPress system onto my own server space, and I love it. More expensive, but it may be one of the situations where you get what you pay for – and you can get no-frills server space for $50 or less a year now.

Hi Murray,
Thanks for your suggestion. That was another option I was considering, since my husband does have a server, but I wanted to check out the service from WordPress first before going that route. Maybe I should try it. Hhmmm…

I agree with Michael that it is often easier to link to your photos with a dedicated photo hosting site like Flickr or SmugMug (the service I currently use).
I use Squarespace to host my website, and it is pretty reliable. However, I still find that if I want my posts to look perfect, I will occasionally have to play around with the HTML.

Thanks for the tip Andrew. By the way, I had not heard of SmugBug.
