Kids who know computer speak before they can even write

After looking over a spelling assessment I administered recently to my third graders to try to figure out where to start with them, I came across one word on the test that made me smile. Instead of writing We, one student wrote Wii.
They are keeners!

ahahaha that is great!!!! I shouldn’t laugh though, I am a horrible speller and would not have made it through university without spell check!!

LMAO @ w00t Baino! Actually, personally I don’t mind the lingo when it’s in its context, but I don’t really care for it elsewhere. A little bit sprinkled in an e-mail is fine, but too much of it makes my head spin. Hhmm, maybe I am getting old.
I find that spell check is okay, but only to a certain extent. It won’t pick up on a lot of stuff like homonyms.
